Mobile Mechanic on Chicago's South Side
Your car never breaks down at a good time. It dies in the Ford plant lot. It won't start in your driveway off Torrence. Or it quits at the gas station on 106th when you're already running late. I'm a mobile mechanic on the far south side, and I drive to you. No tow truck. No sitting in a shop waiting room reading the same magazine from 2019. I work primarily in South Deering, Hegewisch, South Chicago, the East Side, and out into the south suburbs and near Indiana. If your car is sitting within about 25 miles of Hegewisch, I can get to it. And when you call, you get me, not a call center, not a dispatcher who puts you on hold and never comes back, or one of those new AI bots, you talk to me.
Most of what a shop does, I do right where your car is parked. Some jobs are too big for a parking lot, and I'll tell you straight up if yours is one of them. But most aren't. Here are some of the most common

South Side Winters Are Rough on Cars
I don't need to tell you what January does around here. The wind comes off the lake and the battery that was "fine" in October suddenly won't turn the engine over. Cold kills a weak battery. It thickens your oil. It finds every little crack in a belt.
A lot of my winter calls sound the same, a dead battery, a car that won't start, a slow crank, then nothing. I keep batteries on the truck for the common makes, so a lot of the time I can test it, swap it, and have you moving again in one visit. No waiting three hours for a tow that's backed up because half the south side is stuck too.
What It Costs and How This Works
I tell you the price before I start. You call, you tell me what the car's doing and where it's parked, and I give you a quote. If I get into it and it turns out to be something different than we thought, I stop and tell you before the bill grows. No surprises at the end.

Do you really come to my house?
Yeah. Your driveway, the street out front, your work parking lot, wherever the car is sitting. That's the whole point of this.
How far do you go?
About 25 miles out from Hegewisch. That covers the south side like Englewood or Gage Park, the south suburbs, and the near Indiana towns like Hammond and Calumet City.
Can you fix it the same day?
A lot of the time, yes. Batteries, brakes, and no-starts especially. Call me early and I'll tell you what my day looks like.
What if it's too big to do outside?
Some jobs need a lift, or they take two days. If yours is one of those, I'll tell you honest instead of taking your money and leaving you worse off.
Do you work in winter?
Winter's my busy season. Dead batteries don't take days off and I don't take many days off either.
Battery Replacement & Jump Starts
Cold weather is when I hear from most people about their battery. It's fine one day, then it's 8 degrees out and the car just clicks. That's usually the battery giving up, and the cold sped it along. I carry batteries for the common cars right on the truck, so a lot of the time I can test yours, drop in a new one, and get you moving in the same visit. No standing around a parking lot waiting on a tow. And if it turns out to be something bigger than the battery, I'll tell you that straight instead of just selling you a battery.
Brake Repair & Pad Replacement
Brakes are the one thing I'd never tell you to put off. Grinding, squealing, a pedal that feels soft or goes too far down, that's your car asking for help. I do pads, rotors, calipers, the whole job, right where your car is parked. Most brake work I can finish in an afternoon. I'll hand you the old parts too, so you can see exactly what I saw. No mystery and I won't ask you to "just trust me."
Car Won't Start
A no-start is a puzzle, and the fix depends on what's actually wrong. Could be the battery. Could be the starter. Could be a fuse, a loose connection, or an alternator that's been quietly dying for weeks. I come out, run the tests, and find the real cause instead of guessing and throwing parts at it. That's the part that saves you money. Nothing worse than paying for a starter when it was a twenty dollar fix all along.
Alternator & Starter Replacement
These two get blamed for each other all the time. The alternator keeps your battery charged while you drive. The starter gets the engine turning over in the first place. When either one quits, you're stranded, plain and simple. I test to figure out which one it really is before I touch anything, then replace it on-site. Both are jobs I can usually do right where the car sits.
Mobile Oil Changes
Not glamorous, I know. But skipping oil changes is how a good engine turns into a dead one. I come to your house or your job, do the oil and filter, and take a quick look around while I'm under there. If something's starting to wear, you hear about it early, back when it's cheap to fix instead of a big bill later.
Pre-purchase Inspections
Buying a used car off Marketplace or some corner lot? Let me look at it before you hand over the money. I go over the car, check the stuff sellers tend to leave out, and tell you honest whether it's worth what they're asking. An hour of my time can save you from a three thousand dollar mistake. I've talked plenty of people out of cars that looked great up top and were rotten underneath.

I'm based on the south side and I stay close to home. That's on purpose. It means I actually show up when I say I will, instead of fighting traffic across the whole city to get to you. Around Chicago I cover South Deering, Hegewisch, South Chicago, the East Side, Calumet Heights, Pullman, and Roseland. Out in the suburbs I run down to Calumet City, Dolton, Riverdale, South Holland, Lansing, and Blue Island. And I cross the line into Indiana for Hammond, Whiting, East Chicago, and Munster.
